The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
