(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
