۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
