The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virginal, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
