Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
