Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 The perspicuous Book is witness 2 We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil). 3 During it are distributed all the works of wisdom. 4 As a command from before Us. Verily We were to become senders: 5 as a mercy from thy Lord (surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing) 6 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them: if you would only have sure faith. 7 There is no worship except for Him – He gives life and causes death; your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. 8 In fact, the unbelievers have doubts because of excessive involvement in worldly affairs. 9 So you await the day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. – 10 enveloping people. That will be a grievous scourge. 11 (They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!" 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 Yet they turned away from him and said: one tutored, one distraced. 14 Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert. 15 But on that Day We will assault them most mightily, and then We shall revenge! 16 ۞ And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger, 17 (and said): “Deliver to me Allah's servants. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you, 18 Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority. 19 And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death: 20 But if you do not believe me, then leave me alone." 21 (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." 22 God said, "Set out with My servants by night, for you will certainly be pursued. 23 and leave the sea becalmed [between thee and Pharaoh's men]: for, verily, they are a host destined to be drowned!" 24 How much they left behind of gardens and springs 25 corn-fields, gracious mansions, 26 And goodly things wherein they rejoiced; 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not over them, nor were they respited. 29

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
