The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still desires more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he thought; 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
