And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
