Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
