۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 And by oath of your forefather Ibrahim, and by you – his illustrious son! 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Did We not assign unto him two eyes 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 Upon them is a fire, in which they are imprisoned, closed and shut above them. 20
