Mention the story of Abraham, the truthful Prophet, in the Book (the Quran) 41 [Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient. 44 O my father! Lo! I fear lest a punishment from the Beneficent overtake thee so that thou become a comrade of the devil. 45 He said: Do you dislike my gods, O Ibrahim? If you do not desist I will certainly revile you, and leave me for a time. 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 And I renounce you and that unto which ye call beside Allah; and I shall call unto my Lord; belike in calling unto my Lord I shall not be unblest. 48 So when he had separated from them and what they worshipped other than Allah, We bestowed him Ishaq and Yaqub; and We made each of them a Herald of the Hidden. 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
