And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Exaltations to Him who created pairs of all the things the earth produces and of themselves, and that of which they have no knowledge. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outpace the day: each floats in [its own] orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 And if We will, We can drown them, so there would be no help in their distress, nor would they be saved. 43 unless it be a mercy from us, and as an enjoyment for a season. 44 But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy... " 45 And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away. 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are quarrelling with one another. 49 They will have no time to make a will, nor shall they return to their own people. 50
