The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
