The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and pus 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
