The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
