The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
