The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
