Al-Aadeyaat
The Galloppers (Al-Aadeyaat)
11 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Afternoon (Al-'Asr) before Bounty (Al-Kawthar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those that sprint, breathing heavily. (The horses used in Holy War.) 1 Then those that produce fire striking, 2 rushing to assault at morn, 3 And raise the dust in clouds the while, 4 Then penetrate to the centre of the enemy army. 5 surely, man is ungrateful to his Lord. 6 And lo! he is a witness unto that; 7 for, verily, to the love of wealth is he most ardently devoted. 8 ۞ Does he not know that when that which is in the graves is overthrown, 9 And there shall be brought to light that which is in the breasts? 10 On that day their Lord surely knows all about them! 11
