20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And leave them to Me these wealthy deniers and give them some respite. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon We seized him with no gentle grip. 16 Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
