And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
