Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 Evert time I invite them to Your (guidance) so that You can forgive them, they put their fingers into their ears, cover their heads with their clothes, persist in their disbelief and display extreme arrogance. 7 "I preached to them aloud, in public. 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers. 12 What is amiss with you that you do not look forward to the majesty of Allah 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
