The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
