We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Seven gates it has, and unto each gate a set portion of them belongs.' 44
