The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said, "My Lord knows all that you do." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
