۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In gardens of delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
