The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
