Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Blest be He in whose hand is the dominion, and He is over everything Potent. 1 Who hath created death and life that He might prove you, as to which of you is excellent in work. And He is the Mighty, the Forgiver. 2 [And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks? 3 Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired. 4 We have adorned the lowest sky with lamps, and made them missiles against the devils, for whom We have prepared a torment of most intense fire. 5 For those who believe not in their Lord there is the punishment of Hell; and what a wretched destination 6 When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up. 7 As if about to explode with rage; whenever a group is thrown into it, the guardians of hell will ask them, “Did not a Herald of Warning come to you?” 8 They say: Yea, verily, a warner came unto us; but we denied and said: Allah hath naught revealed; ye are in naught but a great error. 9 They will say: 'If we had only listened and understood, we would not be among the inmates of the Blazing Fire.'” 10 They will confess to their sins, but the dwellers of hell will be far away from God's (mercy). 11 Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward. 12 (Whether you) speak in secret or aloud, He knows the innermost of the chests. 13 Shall He not know, who created? And He is the All-subtle, the All-aware. 14
