Nay, by the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning unto humankind 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
