He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
