Al-Shooraa 4 of 5
And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much. 30 And ye cannot frustrate His punishment in the earth; and there is for you beside Allah neither protector nor helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 Or He wrecks them for what they have earned; and He pardons much; 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive; 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 Those who successfully defend themselves after being wronged will not be questioned. 41 The cause is only against the ones who wrong the people and tyrannize upon the earth without right. Those will have a painful punishment. 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
