Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven splits open. 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the seas burst beyond their bounds, 3 And when the graves are laid open, 4 (Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds). 5 O man! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one, 6 Who created you, shaped you, and made you well-proportioned, 7 In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. 8 No indeed; but you cry lies to the Doom; 9 And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you, 10 noble recorders, 11 They know whatever you do. 12 Most surely the righteous are in bliss, 13 And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; 14 In which they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense, 15 And will not be able to hide from it. 16 And what will make you realize what the day of judgment is? 17 Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? 18 It is the Day when no one shall have the power to do anything for another, and all command shall be Allah's. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
