The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
