▼ 52 The Mountain
Al-Toor 2 of 2
EXHORT, then, [O Prophet, all men:] for, by thy Sustainer's grace, thou art neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: "(Muhammad SAW is) a poet! We await for him some calamity by time! 30 Say: 'Await! I shall be awaiting with you.' 31 Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?” 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Or were they created of themselves? Or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing! 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? 41 Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 42 Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
