NAY, but consider the moon! 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning unto humankind 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
