(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
