Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
