The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
