Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
