Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 So he hurried to the house and brought a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And in Moosa, when We sent him with a clear proof towards Firaun. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
