Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 Then by oath of those that push with a strong gust. 2 Which scatter clouds to their destined places, 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For which day were they appointed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 24 Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together. 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 Proceed to that (the Day of Judgment) which you have rejected. 29 Go to the shadow with three ramifications, 30 (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame. 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 as black camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 nor shall they be given permission, so that they can apologize. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
