The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
