The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky containing great stars 1 By the Promised Day! 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 Behold! they sat over against the (fire), 6 Witnessing what they had done to the believers! 7 And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!- 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 Indeed it is He Who initiates and redoes. 13 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 Always doing whatever He wills. 16 Has the story of the armies reached you, 17 of Pharaoh, and of [the tribe of] Thamud? 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 and God is behind them, encompassing. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 that exists in a well-guarded tablet. 22
