The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and gathered his people together 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
