The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
