۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 On couches facing one another; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 What, do we then not die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
