The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
