The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
