The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
