Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and well spread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
