The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
